This implies that the X-ray source is a binary star system where two white dwarf stars are orbiting each other (above, illustration) only 50,000 miles apart, making it one of the smallest known binary orbits in the Galaxy. According to Einstein's General Theory of Relativity, such a system should produce gravitational waves - ripples in space-time - that carry energy away from the system and cause the stars to move closer together. X-ray and optical observations indicate that the orbital period of this system is decreasing by 1.2 milliseconds every year, which means that the stars are moving closer at a rate of 2 feet per year.</image:caption></image:image><lastmod>2015-12-01T11:37:17+00:00</lastmod><changefreq>monthly</changefreq></url><url><loc>https://seanduke.blog/2015/11/29/ucd-team-discover-promising-treatment-for-advanced-prostate-cancer/</loc><image:image><image:loc>https://seanduke.blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/ucd-prostate-story.jpg</image:loc><image:title>UCD Prostate Story</image:title></image:image><lastmod>2015-11-29T17:08:23+00:00</lastmod><changefreq>monthly</changefreq></url><url><loc>https://seanduke.blog/2015/11/08/justification-for-torture-is-scientifically-bogus-according-to-irish-neuroscientist/</loc><image:image><image:loc>https://seanduke.blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/torture-doesnt-work.jpg</image:loc><image:title>Torture Doesn't Work</image:title></image:image><lastmod>2015-11-08T09:35:37+00:00</lastmod><changefreq>monthly</changefreq></url><url><loc>https://seanduke.blog/2015/10/17/the-diesel-engine-a-nineteenth-century-invention-remains-the-worlds-most-widely-used-engine-but-does-it-have-a-future/</loc><image:image><image:loc>https://seanduke.blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/vw-passat-diesel.jpg</image:loc><image:title>VW Passat Diesel</image:title></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://seanduke.blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/merdes-bens-diesel.jpg</image:loc><image:title>Merdes Bens Diesel</image:title></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://seanduke.blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/big-diesel-engines.jpg</image:loc><image:title>Big Diesel Engines</image:title></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://seanduke.blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/rudolf-diesel.jpg</image:loc><image:title>Rudolf Diesel</image:title><image:caption>GERMANY - JUNE 06: In 1892 Rudolf Diesel (1858-1913) patented a design for a new type of internal combustion engine. In 1897 he produced a 25 horsepower, four-stroke, single vertical cylinder compression engine, the high efficiency of which, together with its comparative simplicity of design, made it an immediate commercial success. Subsequent royalty fees brought great wealth to its inventor. He was lost overboard from the mail steamer 'Dresden' during a trip to London in 1913 and was assumed to have drowned.
